How an LLC and a UK LTD Actually Differ
A US LLC is a pass-through entity by default — the company itself usually doesn't pay federal income tax, profits flow to the owner's personal return instead. A UK LTD is taxed at the company level through corporation tax, then dividends are taxed again when they reach the shareholder.
Both structures give the owner limited liability, but they sit inside very different banking, marketplace, and payment-processor ecosystems, which often matters more day-to-day than the tax treatment itself.
Which One Banks and Marketplaces Expect
If most of your revenue will come from US customers, Amazon US, Stripe, or a US payment processor, an LLC tends to open doors faster — those platforms are built around US business documentation and an EIN. If your buyers or suppliers are UK/EU-based, an LTD often gets smoother approval with UK banks and marketplaces.
